TERMS OF COMMISSIONS AND SALES

Once a commission has been accepted the client may be required to supply reference material if a specific likeness or pose is requested. Otherwise, the artist will select his own reference material from what is available in his own files and on the Internet.

Due to the constraints of time and other obligations, artwork cannot be produced under any deadlines. There should be an assumption by the client that when a commission has been accepted there is already a waiting list of prior commissions that must be completed.

As soon as possible the artist will provide the client via e-mail a scan of the rough sketch which is the basis of the composition of the art. Examples of such sketches can be seen in the GALLERY OF SKETCHES. If there are any problems with either the composition or the rendering they need to be addressed at this stage.

TO POLICY CONCERNING ROUGH SKETCHES

Under normal commission conditions the client will be provided with a single rough sketch and will be allowed a reasonable number of revisions of that sketch. If, after viewing the initial sketch and any revisions, the client decides to alter the original commission to such a degree so that an entirely new rough sketch is required an additional charge of $50 (US) per single full-length figure in the new sketch will be added to the billing. The same billing amount will apply if the client requests any number of rough sketches on approval without a specific finished artwork in mind.

After client approval of the rough sketch a full-scale tightly rendered tonal drawing is prepared and the client is provided with a scan. This drawing will be essentially a black & white version of the finished color art. For commissions of black & white art this will be the finished art. Very minor revisions may be done at this stage.

If the commission is for color artwork it will be executed in this final stage and prepared for shipment. If possible, a color scan will be provided prior to shipment.

Payment must be received from the client before the art can be shipped. Money orders, cashiers checks or PayPal are acceptable. Charges for shipping and handling will be added to the total for the artwork. Choice of shipping service is negotiable but the artist prefers to use Federal Express. Whatever service is used insurance for the value of the artwork must be available. CONTACT THE ARTIST AT: m.d.blanton@att.net.
